Learning CPR and other lifesaving skills? Who says that can’t be fun?
Fire Department Coffee is excited to announce a new nationwide initiative. Jason Patton will combine laughs and lifesaving lessons for audiences from coast to coast. Through a combination of in-person training, videos and virtual learning, our goal is to teach 22 million people by the end of 2022.
Dates and details for in-person and online training events are still being finalized. To receive an email when new information is available, sign up on our website today by clicking the “Notify Me” button.
Jason is an experienced firefighter paramedic, not to mention the vice president of Fire Dept. Coffee and the creator of Fire Department Chronicles, where he’s built a massive following with online videos that take a lighthearted look at the crazy, hectic and sometimes hilarious day-to-day lives of first responders.
The Fire Department Chronicles YouTube channel has more than 200,000 subscribers. The popularity of the 2019 video “Comedy CPR!!!” helped inspire this effort. The video’s description reads: “Learn how to save people's lives while laughing at the same time!”
Among the 600+ comments on the video:
The bad news? This training will not count toward your CPR certification. The good news? It really can help save lives.
“You don’t have to be a first responder to save a life, and you never know when you’ll find yourself in a position where someone will need your help,” Jason said. “I believe that everyone should know basic CPR skills and have a plan for responding in an emergency. And I know that most people learn better when they’re having fun. That’s what this is all about.”
