Your Support Fuels Our Mission

Twenty years.

It feels like a lifetime ago. It feels like yesterday.

Our world changed forever on September 11, 2001, when terrorists flew hijacked airliners into both towers of the World Trade Center and into the Pentagon. Our nation stopped frozen in disbelief.

Yet that day delivered a stark reminder that heroes walk among us.

We learned of the heroic passengers who disrupted the hijackers’ plans and crashed a fourth plane into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, before it could reach and destroy its intended target. We watched as firefighters and police officers in New York City and Washington, D.C., raced toward the smoke and flames and rubble.

We wept for every life lost. And our hearts broke for all the family members left to carry on.

In the days that followed, something incredible happened. Our nation united like no other time in recent memory. Men, women and children of every possible background.

It took a tragedy to remind us of what’s most important, to help us look past our many differences and shine a spotlight on the common bonds that unite us all as Americans. 

So today, let us all remember how we felt in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. Let us celebrate the courage of all those who worked valiantly to save American lives. And the selflessness of all those who volunteered and served our nation and around the world, because they wanted to ensure that our citizens would not be attacked again.

For 20 years, our nation has marked this anniversary in every way imaginable. At Fire Department Coffee, we have contributed to support The Tommy Cullen Foundation, honoring one of our FDNY heroes.

In 2019, our vice president, Jason Patton, participated in the San Antonio 110 9/11 Memorial Climb, where he ascended 110 flights of stairs in honor of the first responders who went into the World Trade Center in search of survivors.

The world has changed over the last 20 years. Yet some things have not changed.

Heroes walked among us then. Heroes walk among us now.

Never forget.
