The city of Rockford, IL, has earned many nicknames over the years. We wouldn’t mind adding one more to the list someday.

Coffee Town, Illinois, has a certain ring to it, doesn’t it?

After all, Rockford is our home, and we couldn’t be more proud. Every bag of Fire Dept. Coffee is roasted right here before we send it off around the country. Or just down the street. Our founder and several members of our team serve with the City of Rockford Fire Department. 

We live here. We work here. We love it here.

Making a Name in Rockford, IL

Rockford has been very good to us — and we’re just one of many. Did you know that Rockford is the home of the classic rock band Cheap Trick, members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. You remember that song, “I Want You to Want Me”? That’s Rockford’s own Rick Nielsen on vocals.

The Rockford Peaches were the real deal women’s baseball team, playing professionally from 1943 to 1954 and later becoming the inspiration for the unforgettable movie “A League of Their Own,” starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis. 

We also have a long history of exceptional manufacturing here. The “Screw Capital of the World” nickname is thanks to the millions and millions of screws, bolts and fasteners produced right here. Some people love the name. Some people hate it. We choose to love it.

Plus, Rockford is the birthplace of the iconic sock monkey. You’re welcome, world.

We are honored and humbled to be able to share our coffee with hardworking men and women from coast to coast. But our roots and our hearts are in Rockford.

The citizens of Rockford were our first customers, and many of them remain our most supportive and dedicated coffee drinkers.

Though most of our coffee is delivered via mail, in Rockford, it’s always been easy to find your cup. Find us at the Rockford City Market, serving up fresh roasted coffee surrounded by dozens of incredible local and regional businesses and hundreds of shoppers who know all about the great things created here.

Wired Cafe in downtown Rockford is always pouring your favorite Fire Dept. Coffee roasts, which you can enjoy along with your delicious breakfast or lunch.

Another of our favorite spots is Baci’s Kitchen. The menu there is nothing short of amazing, and it always makes us smile whenever someone at the next table is drinking from a cup of Fire Dept. Coffee.

We are so grateful for the support that the city of Rockford and its amazing citizens have given us over the years. So we will always take every opportunity to show our love for Rockford.
