Marie Stravinskas Keeps the FDC Community Connected

We’re not just a coffee company — we’re a community.

A coast-to-coast collection of firefighters, coffee lovers and people who appreciate hard work and caffeine. We want you to enjoy our coffee, sure, but also to hang out with us on social media and bond with each other over your shared great tastes.

Making that happen is what Marie Stravinskas does best. 

She’s our Community Manager and Social Media Engagement Specialist. So she handles everything from answering questions about coffee to managing our social media and generally keeping our community feeling connected to each other and to Fire Dept. Coffee.

Spreading Good Vibes

Since she joined Fire Dept. Coffee in 2020, Marie has shown a fearless ability to put out any metaphorical fires that arise and to keep things looking professional and moving forward. She has helped our team grow, while keeping the focus on bringing fun and laughter to our community of coffee drinkers.

Asked her favorite part of the job, she didn’t hesitate.

“The free coffee.”

We would accept that answer. But then she kept going.

“Just kidding,” she said. “I love the people I get to work with every day. Every single person

on our team here at FDC is an absolute pleasure to work with. I’ve never had the chance to

work with a team as kind, compassionate, and humble as I do here.”

Giving Back and Chasing Joy

Marie found Fire Dept. Coffee as she began searching for a place to launch her career after graduating from Northern Illinois University in 2020. We hired her without hesitation that October.

She loved that we were a small — but growing — business, and she was especially motivated by our mission to give back to sick and injured first responders.

“Although I don’t come from a firefighter background, as someone with a healthy fear

of fire, I really do admire and respect anyone willing to run towards a burning building to help others in such a vulnerable time of need,” she said.

Outside of work, Marie said she hasn’t been able to pin down any single hobby to focus on, but she’s rarely at a loss for something fun to do.

“I try to spend my time chasing joy when I’m not at work,” she said. “Whether I’m playing music, doing a DIY home improvement project, or enjoying a night on the couch with my husband and pup, I try my best to go wherever happiness might find me.”
